Work for Classes Friday 11 May

May 11th, 2012 No comments

Fear not everyone, there is still work for you to do in my absence.
Grade 11′s you need to prepare for the exam by doing the following:
- making notes and plans for all six practice questions
- preparing a quotation bank for each text
- writing one whole essay
Also, you are required to hand in the final of your written task in hard copy. Yes. Hard copy. Only one student has been granted a very short extension because of her email yesterday. She must to email me again today.
Grade 10.
If Ms Main is the sub teacher, you will conduct your performances as planned. She is a grade 10 teacher so she knows exactly what is expected.
If she is not available we will postpone the performances until Wednesday 23 May (after the exams). And, if not, you need to begin preparing for the exam by downloading the files below and practising writing commentaries. Remember: the purpose of a commentary is to explain how the meaning has been created by the author in a particular passage.
- Use the commentary wheel to help you work out the what literary devices (imagery, rhythm, tone, symbols etc) have been used in the passage
- Use the commentary writing hints file and the commentary outline to help you write the commentary.
- Practise with the two passages that we looked at earlier from Act 1.

Like a Dickinson poem itself, this Unit will be short and sweet. Also, like one of her poems it will be intense and Profound –
